ABL-TECHNIC in Germany was contracted to clean two identical shell-and-tube heat exchangers, each weighing around 1,000 tonnes, in the shortest possible time. The focus was on removing cracked deposits of plastic polyamide (PA 66.6). We used pyrolysis to remove the thermal coating. To ensure 100% cleaning success, the components then underwent various post-treatments, such as high-pressure rinsing and chemical reworking.
